New deal to create 68 affordable homes in Bourne End
Dozens of affordable homes in Bourne End are now one step closer following a deal between leading landlord Sovereign and developer Croudace Homes.
The 68 new affordable homes in the picturesque village will include 43 flats and 25 houses – with 48 available for affordable rent and 20 for shared ownership.
The homes will be set amongst a beautiful natural landscape and in close proximity to the River Wye and River Thames. Residents and the wider community will benefit from lots of green open space, an orchard, and ponds linked together by a network of paths.
This is the second expansion into Buckinghamshire for the 62,000-home housing association. Earlier this year it exchanged contracts with Buckinghamshire Council to deliver 50 affordable homes at its Horns Lane development in the county.
Jenny Grote, Assistant Development Director at Sovereign said: “Exchanging contracts is a huge step and we’re looking forward to working with Croudace to create these much-needed homes that will offer many people a great place to enjoy their lives in Bourne End. Building in areas like this really showcases our commitment to deliver new affordable homes and create thriving communities in fantastic locations.”
“Sovereign remains an active developer and competitive funder of new homes across the home counties. So I would encourage those with land to contact us to discuss opportunities to create a legacy of affordable homes.”
The mixed-tenure homes will be built to Sovereign’s Homes and Place Standard, which was created alongside its customers and underpins its commitment to create and maintain good quality homes and better places to live.
The site is expected to be completed in 2026 with Sovereign funding the development, which is part of a Section 106 agreement with Croudace Homes.
Alasdair MacLean Strategic Land Promoter at Croudace Homes added “Croudace Homes is delighted to have exchanged contracts with Sovereign Housing Association for 68 affordable homes in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire. Croudace looks forward to delivering these affordable homes alongside 78 market homes in Bourne End over the coming years with construction already underway. This deal showcases Croudace’s commitment to delivering high quality, new affordable homes in sustainable locations across the South East of England.”
Bourne End is one of many new developments Sovereign is delivering in the area. It has ambitious plans for the area, with more than 1,000 new homes are already in its pipeline across the neighbouring counties of Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
